Next Tailgate:
The Bearcats return home for their first Nipp at Night of the season sitting at 5-6 with bowl eligibility on the line. After beating Houston 34-0 back on September 21, the Bearcats were sitting at 3-1 and needed to win 3 of their next 8 to see the postseason for the first time since 2022. They’ve, unfortunately, been the losers of 5 of the last 7… The TCU Horned Frogs have already locked up a bowl berth and are currently tied for 2nd in the Big XII, having won 4 of their last 5, so they’re certainly not going to be a pushover. Will home field advantage be the difference maker or has the visor taken the life out of the “Wrigley Field of College Football”? Can they do it? We don’t really know anymore… Will our tailgate be rocking? YOU BET! It’s the last game of the season, SO we’ll have our biggest food spread of the year and will be tasked with emptying the coolers…think you’re up for the challenge? See you Saturday at The Grid!11/30/24 – TCU Horned Frogs @ Cincinnati Bearcats

2024 Bearcats Game 2 Preview – Full of Pitt
Last week marked the return to James Gamble Nippert Memorial Stadium and the official kick off of the 2024 college football season for our beloved Bearcats. The start of the 100th season in Nippert history didn’t exactly inspire Bearcat Nation to change their outlook for this year’s version of the Bearcats. A sweltering hot game, with rain in the forecast, but sweat in the stands was a struggle for the fanbase as they filed into the air conditioned confines of TUC and Fifth Third Arena for a majority of the second half. The Bearcats did walk away with a 38-20 victory, that allowed Towson to linger longer than expected. Win and move on is the mantra in these games. A looming match-up against a former rival, the Pittsburgh Panthers, is on the horizon for the Cats.
Last year’s version of the Bearcats made the trip to the intersection of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers and left Pittsburgh riding high with a hard fought 27-21 victory at Acrisure Stadium. The Bearcats stormed out to a 20-7 lead at the half, and that was about the last time the Bearcats looked like world beaters in 2023. After a mixed showing Week 1, can the Bearcats fix the mistakes that plagued this team in 2023?
2024 Bearcats Game 1 Preview and Roster Breakdown – Bearcat Bounceback?
It’s been 9 long months since we last saw our Bearcats hit the Gridiron in a season that many would call disastrous. Year 1 under Head Coach Scott Satterfield failed to enchant the hearts of many Bearcat fans, leaving few with a sense of optimism for the future. However, many of our former coaches have gone on to have some success after a dissapointing season. Benedict Fickell went 4-8 in his first season with the ‘Cats and could have gone 1-11 without some lucky bounces. Total cheeseball Butch Jones went 4-8 in his first season before ripping off two consecutive 9 win seasons. Hell even a Senator could maintain the momentum Butch set forth to win 9 games, before quickly dropping a huge dookie on this program.
Last year’s roster was the first coaching transition that had to manage the NIL version of the transfer portal. Satterfield’s staff was able to secure some talent, but a swing and a miss at the QB position put this team behind the 8 ball. Mix that in with some roster mismatches and that’s a recipe for the worst finish the Bearcats have had since 1999. This year’s roster, on paper, has a lot more production tied to it. Add in the efforts of the Strength and Conditioning Staff to build a better locker room culture and this team could be poised for a turn around. Is this team a B12 Championship contender? Likely not, but 6 wins and a bowl game with the additional practices that go along with it could build a foundation for this team to compete in 2025. This week the Bearcats start their campaign against the Towson Tigers out of Baltimore, MD. Can this new look Bearcat team capture the hearts of Bearcats Nation?
Happy 2024!
